Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a hands-on, full-time, exempt position responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities that drive organizational growth. This role is tasked with building lasting client relationships, expanding NES’s market presence, and converting prospects into partners and recurring customers. The BDM works cross-functionally with sales, marketing, finance, and leadership to align growth strategies with business objectives.
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
- Lead the sales cycle, including lead generation and prospect qualification.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and outreach
- Provide directions on deal strategy, including pricing, service, and value proposition.
- Focus on new sales contracts, team selling, and solution selling.
- Collaborate with internal teams to refine value propositions and go-to-market strategies.
- Responsible for managing and delivering the top-line revenue to ensure profitability targets are met or exceeded (bottom line).
- Generate leads using various tools such as internal databases, networking at industry associations or conferences, existing connections, social media, and other proven methods.
- Communicate intelligently about environmental, health, and safety services without being an expert.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients, partners, and channels
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers at client locations
- Secure meetings with key stakeholders, lead campaigns, and develop and drive other initiatives that support the company’s growth objectives
- Lead or support proposal development, presentations, and contract negotiations
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform strategy and tactics
- Oversee, maintain, track, and report on business development metrics, forecasts, and outcomes in Salesforce
- Develop a business strategy that includes sales forecasting.
- Prepare, review, and submit proposals/bid work, RFPs, and RFQs.
- Capitalize on AI to locate target opportunities in the marketplace.
- Research new business opportunities by seeking out RFPs and networking.
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in business development in a consulting service industry
- Experience in the organization’s industry or target market
- Experience working with executive-level clients or partners
- Familiarity with contract management and pricing strategies
- Experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety Consulting is a plus!
- Salesforce Experience is a PLUS!
- Ability to educate and manage by influence
- Drive and assist service line leaders in developing and closing leads
- Ability to identify new business opportunities and develop them into lasting relationships
- Ability to manage key client relationships and work to build new ones

Wage: $107,393 to $162,338 plus commission
